What are some alternative products to WebEx and GoToMeeting?

Can you answer idovermani’s question about Conferencing?:

My association runs monthly webinars and archives them, so I am looking for varying product offerings to see which one fits our current need the best.

    Conferencing Feedback: Try Skype.
    It’s very affordable.

Conferencing Feedback: You could give Adobe Connect a try. You have screen sharing/remote controlling, vidconferencing, and all kinds of little webinar tools like poll questions and a whiteboard you can plug in to a dashboard that webinar attendees see. It’s nice to start a webinar with some poll questions while everybody is getting on so that the people waiting have something to do and you get some good data out of it. The meetings have permanent URLs that you choose/name so you can use them anytime

I think our organization pays like 4k annually for the service (we have a separate voice conference provider so I do not know how much the teleconf piece of Connect costs, but they have it), but we are quite happy with the software.

I do like the screen sharing and remote control interface of GoToMeeting better, though. It’s just a little slicker/more intuitive. But Connect has it beat in terms of collaborative utility.

The free version supports up to 3 participants if you want to check it out.

RHUB offers an alternative to hosted web conferencing solutions. Their 4-in-1 appliance approach allows you to own and control it so no monthly fees. It’s great for medium/large companies or anyone that uses conferencing often. The appliance includes webinars, conferencing, remote access, and remote support. Take a look http://www.rhubcom.com

I’ve used RHUB before and thought it was great. I don’t own their appliance but I was an attendee in a meeting that used it. There were no problems that I experienced. It was fast and seemed reliable. They even have a no download option for attendees so anyone with a browser and internet connection can join the meeting. I thought that was super handy and neat. Just type in the web addy and your in, but I think if you join that way it’s view-only and not interactive.
