The same old “Mac vs PC” question?

Can you answer Alan B’s question about Conferencing?:

I’m hoping for substantive responses. A few friends swear by Macs, but I’ve been a PC guy all my life (even back to the Radio Shack TRS-80 and BASIC language programming, LOL). I’m trying to keep an open mind this time around, since I’m willing to part with good money for something solid.

I’m not a fan of the Mac’s simple one-button mouse, and I’m not crazy about learning a new interface (although Vista now makes that unavoidable, hence my willingness to switch if necessary). Mac also doesnt offer an attached 10-key, which I prefer. Fewer virus problems is a big plus.

I travel overseas often, and would prefer something that is very good with webcams for video-conferencing. My 3-yr old Dell (low-cost/obsolete when bought for $400) won’t run newer (even medium-graphics) games now.

I’m willing to spend up to $2500 if something can really inspire confidence. I’m looking at Voodoopc, Alienware, HP, Sony, Dell & Toshiba… or a Mac.

Any intelligent input is welcome. Thanks!
